Joani Koenig was first introduced to the Midwifery model
of care in 1986 when she chose a midwife for her own first pregnancy. Having been raised in a family that promoted natural birth she had herself been considering a career
path that would include delivering babies. Shortly after
the birth of her first child she began taking steps to be an
active part of birth. She has been an ICEA Childbirth Educator, Professional Doula, Breastfeeding Instructor
and worked in the business office for a midwife. Through
the raising of her own family of 9 children (all midwife
assisted births) she has expanded her knowledge to
include homeopathic and other holistic approaches to
health and wellness. Maintaining a relationship with other midwives and birth practitioners across the country gives
her access to a vast knowledge of practices and
procedures to assist her clients in getting the best birth possible.
When her family relocated to New Braunfels she
temporarily placed on hold her midwifery career to work
in her husband’s business but soon found an opportunity
to become a part of Family Birth Center, sharing in the
births of some of the best moms and newborns around.
