For a normal pregnancy and
delivery, our fees at the Family Birth Center include:
Twenty-four hour availability of a
Certified Professional Midwife
Office Visits
Your initial visit with a Certified Professional Midwife
will include a complete physical exam, a review of your
medical history, a laboratory screening, nutritional
counseling, and/or a review of any transferred records.
Subsequent visits will allow you to get to know the
Certified Professional Midwife at Family Birth Center.
Labor and Delivery
You will receive continuous care, support and monitoring
by a Certified Professional Midwife and birth assistant
during active labor, birth, and early postpartum. Most
mothers stay at the Family Birth Center’s facilities
from admission until about six hours after delivery.
Postpartum Care
A home visit will be done for first time mothers 2 to 3
days after your delivery. Two-week and six-week exams
will take place at the Birth Center.
Additional expenses may include:
Hospital Deliveries
If complications develop during your labor that
necessitate a hospital birth, the base fee will cover
the Certified Professional Midwife's time during
prenatal care, monitoring your labor at the birth
center, her role at the hospital during labor and
delivery, your postpartum care, and the facility charges
at time of admission and labor. The physician and the
hospital will bill you independently of the Family Birth
Center.
Childbirth Classes
We recommend first time mothers attend a series of
childbirth education classes. If you have already had a
baby, we will assist you in determining if classes are
necessary. Childbirth class fees are paid to the
instructor whom you choose.
